China’s first 10,000-ton methanol dual-fuel integrated electric-propelled inland river bulk carrier launched, powered by Zichai Power

On May 16, 2024, China's first 10,850-ton methanol dual-fuel integrated electric propulsion inland river bulk carrier (HC-A2304) "Guoneng Yangtze 01" was successfully launched, marking that the ship has successfully completed the main structure and entered the equipment The sprint stage of commissioning and delivery also marks a new step taken by China National Energy Group Shipping Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "National Energy Shipping") in the construction of green smart ships on the Yangtze River.

"National Energy Yangtze River 01" is an important measure taken by National Energy Shipping to further promote the Yangtze River shipping layout, implement the dual-carbon strategy, and promote the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. It serves as a demonstration and leader in promoting the construction of green smart ships and the upgrading of major equipment in the Yangtze River. effect. The ship is a standard ship type for transportation in the Sichuan River and Three Gorges Reservoir area, with a length of 130m, a width of 16.26m, a depth of 7.98m, a designed cargo capacity of 10,850 tons, and is classified as CCS. It is also equipped with a low-voltage shore power system. National Shipping, Donghu Laboratory and Zichai Power Co., Ltd. jointly developed the first domestic 600kw methanol/diesel dual-fuel generator set and the first domestic methanol/diesel dual-fuel bulk carrier electric-electric hybrid DC integrated power system, equipped with 2 sets 500kWh lithium battery, two 1000kW propulsion motors, etc., to achieve independent controllability of all equipment and technology, which can enhance the core competitiveness of my country's marine methanol fuel and electric-electric hybrid DC integrated power system engineering applications. The ship has good adaptability to the special operating conditions of Yangtze River ships in different seasons, different voyage sections, and drastic changes in water power. Compared with mechanically propelled ships of the same size, the ship will save 26% in fuel costs and reduce carbon emissions by 11%.

"National Energy Yangtze River 01" started construction on June 29, 2023, and is expected to be officially delivered by the end of June 2024. National Shipping will continue to innovate the integrated operation model of Yangtze River inland shipping, adhere to new development concepts, and explore the application of pure batteries, hydrogen energy and other inland green smart ships.
