Recently, the first 10,000-ton methanol/diesel dual-fuel integrated electric propulsion inland bulk carrier "Guo Neng Changjiang 01" in China successfully completed its navigation test. The power system uses the methanol/diesel dual-fuel engine of Zibo Diesel Power Co., Ltd. This is the first successful application of methanol fuel power and hybrid DC integrated electric propulsion technology jointly developed by Zibo Diesel Company, Guo Neng Shipping and Donghu Laboratory in my country's inland shipping. The active exploration of new ideas for the development of green and low-carbon inland river ships is a powerful practice of accelerating the development of new quality productivity with scientific and technological innovation as the guide, and has played a good demonstration and leading role in promoting the green, low-carbon and intelligent development of inland shipping.

Using green methanol as fuel in shipping can significantly reduce carbon emissions and fuel costs during shipping. In order to achieve reliable, efficient and clean utilization of methanol fuel, the methanol/diesel dual-fuel engine jointly developed by Zichai Power Co., Ltd. and Tianjin University breaks through the technical difficulties of using methanol fuel in the compression ignition method and efficiently uses methanol fuel in the compression ignition method. It achieves precise fuel control and coordinated combustion, ensuring efficient, reliable and stable operation of the engine. The design of the engine follows intrinsic safety design to ensure the reliability of marine power. After type testing and certification, all indicators of the engine meet relevant specification requirements. In October 2023, it obtained the first domestic methanol/diesel dual-fuel engine certificate.

The sea trial completed a series of test items such as main engine power, main engine and shaft system operation, and speed measurement experiments, and the test results met the expected goals. The success of the sea trial has laid a solid foundation for expanding the industrial application of methanol/diesel dual-fuel engines in the future.
As a pioneer in domestic marine alternative fuel engines, Zibo Diesel Power Co., Ltd. will continue to work hard on high-power methanol dual-fuel engines and single-fuel methanol engine technologies to make positive contributions to the application of green alternative energy.
