On August 13, good news came from the green manufacturing industry in Zibo: the first 10,000-ton methanol/diesel dual-fuel integrated electric propulsion inland bulk carrier "Guo Neng Changjiang 01" in China has successfully completed its navigation test. The power system of the cargo ship uses the methanol/diesel dual-fuel engine of Zibo Diesel Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Zibo Diesel Power).

This is the first successful application of methanol fuel power and hybrid DC integrated electric propulsion technology jointly developed by Zibo Diesel Power, Guoneng Shipping and Donghu Laboratory in my country's inland shipping. It has played a good demonstration and leading role in promoting the green, low-carbon and intelligent development of inland shipping.

Using green methanol as fuel in shipping can significantly reduce carbon emissions and fuel costs during shipping. In order to achieve reliable, efficient and clean utilization of methanol fuel, the methanol/diesel dual-fuel engine jointly developed by Zichai Power and Tianjin University has overcome the technical difficulties of applying methanol fuel in the compression ignition method and efficiently applied methanol fuel in the compression ignition method, achieving Precise fuel control and coordinated combustion ensure efficient, reliable and stable operation of the engine. The design of the engine follows intrinsic safety design to ensure the reliability of marine power. After type testing and certification, all indicators of the engine meet relevant specification requirements. In October 2023, it obtained the first domestic methanol/diesel dual-fuel engine certificate.
This voyage test completed a series of test projects such as main engine power, main engine and shafting operation, and speed measurement experiments, and the test results reached the expected goals. The success of the navigation test laid a solid foundation for China to expand the industrial application of methanol/diesel dual-fuel engines.
